I recently took the kids to Ossian State Forest to look for animal signs. We started off looking at plants, and we found some mosses, ferns, fungus, and some Goblet lichen. We then began to look under logs for salamanders and found about 5 Northern Redbacks. So then, on to what we came for. I have been here many times and have seen the beavers here before, so I knew there were beaver sings here. As you can see in the photo, we found a beaver lodge. There were lots of downed trees (by beavers) around the pond. They made no damn, but there is another lodge, we discovered, on the other side of the pond as well.
